You said most people would say that. I'm not really that interested in your personal opinion but I am pointing out that what you said was utter cockwash and that you are a simpleton. Judging by your response I'm starting to think you may have been a cunt in a previous life.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Exactly. What a fucking waste. I think Germany or France would have found a way to use players of that calibre.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
for me trevor had a bit more power and strength, one thing hoddle had the edge on him was long enough passing. he could literally hit put the ball on a sixpence from sixty/seventy yards. all players like those two id also throw in le tissier were wasted by the england set up and their insistence on functional, dull football

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Pathetic argument. Two great, great player, irrespective of club loyalties.

For me, Brooking was more of a number 10, brilliant close control, never seen anyone let the ball run alongside him like that.

Hoddle was one of the best passers the English game has seen. No point bringing England into it, we were fucking shit at that time, and our ability to ignore real talent, and not just in football, is well established.

Good one Sven, look stupid in an argument so you pull out the “you must be a Spurs fan” line.

I couldn’t give a shit what you say Vexed. Your opinion is worthless.

I don’t really need to explain myself to a gimp like you, but try to find the bit where I said I thought that Hoddle was better than Brooking. That might keep you occupied for a while and keep you from spouting your usual bollocks on here.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Sven to be fair to Hoddle he played a lot of games for England on the right hand side of midfield as Robson preferred the midfield two of Robson & Wilkins

Brooking was a Rolls Royce of a player and my all time favourite Hammer, he must've been good to make Cloughie change his opinion on him

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
My stats were in answer to a claim that Hoddle didn’t really get a chance to show his quality in international football.
He DID and the quality was lacking.
Brooking was a better player and a better man.
But you Spurs fans and other fans are entitled to your opinion

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
You're an idiot Iron Duke. Not a chance would any neutral say that Hoddle was a better player than Brooking. Only You, Hoddle and that other fucking idiot Garth Crooks would pipe up with such utter nonsense. Listen to the voices, top yourself.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
If you say so Sven, although your stats don’t support your argument. I could go on about how Hoddle had more caps and scored more goals, won 2 FA Cups and a UEFA Cup, then you could counter that by saying Brooking won 2 FA Cups and made the Cup Winners Cup Final. It is arguable that Brooking didn’t set the world alight for England either. Whether you like it or not, most non-West Ham fans will say that Hoddle was the better player, or at least that they were equal.

Anyway, I’m bored with all this. I hope he makes a recovery anyway.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Brooking got 47 caps from 74 to 82
Hoddle got 53 from 79 to 88

Hoddle obviously had his chance and you could argue may have displaced the far superior Brooking in the overlap period.
Hoddle did nothing of note in international football. Too much ego ,too much concern for himself

As one of his 1998 World Cup players said ... if he was chocolate he would eat himself

Vexed: "Hoddle was s great player every once in about 10 apoearances. Shit for his country too. Brooking is a bona fide legend and all round top bloke."

Absolutely correct. Brooking was at least as talented as Hoddle, but far more consistent.
Hope Hoddle pulls through.

Agree with that.

As for Geno v hoddle, I go for Geno who had class written all over him. (and is me all time favourite of course!).

They could both equally do some damage with both feet though.

Vexed disagrees with me. Thank fuck for that, I must be right then.

How did Rice play yesterday?

To put the cunt Hoddle in the same league as Brooking you should get hounded off this board. You're a disgrace.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Glenn Hoddle was not only a good player he was also in one of the most graceful players I have ever seen his passing was second to none and he could turn a player on a 5 pence piece.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Brooking was great, but to say that Hoddle was not at his level is ridiculous.

Mike Oxsaw 4:05 Sun Oct 28
Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Internationally, Brooking was occupying the role that Hoddle would naturally have filled.

He may well have been "as good" as Brooking, but not good enough to usurp Sir Trev, with his feet well & truly under the table, so never really got the chance to really prove himself at that level.

Re: Glenn Hoddle seriously ill
Hoddle was more athletic than Brooking but Brooking had the more class and composure.

Both great players. Brooking edges it for me but I would say that wouldn't I ....

It's not claret and blue specs syndrome to say Brooking was better than Hoddle at all.
